TOURIST ARRIVALS UP 39% IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2026 COMPARED TO THE SAME PERIOD LAST YEAR

The flow of international tourists visiting Mongolia grew steadily in the first quarter of 2026, with the sector's recovery delivering tangible results. As an outcome of collaborative efforts across the tourism sector, tourist arrivals increased significantly compared to the same period last year, a total of 143,431 tourists arrived in the first quarter, representing a 39% increase, or 40,580 additional visitors, over the same period last year.
The ministry particularly highlighted that 59,317 tourists arrived in March alone - a historic achievement representing a 50% increase or 19,815 additional visitors, compared to the same month last year.
These statistics are a clear indication that Mongolia's tourism sector is moving beyond seasonal dependency and developing the capacity to attract visitors throughout all four seasons of the year.
