B.DAVAATSEREN: DEER STONE MONUMENT WILL BE RENEWED AFTER THE EVALUATION

2021-09-30 421

According to the Ecological Police, the deer statue was painted on the 15th deer statue of Khirgisuuriin Denj, Jargalant soum, Bayankhongor aimag, and the original deer statue was attacked 3,000 years ago. In this regard, B.Davaatseren, Director of the Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia, clarified the issues of restoration, preservation and protection of the monument.

-There is a problem with painting on a classic deer statue with abstract depictions of Mongolian and Inner Baikal deer. What is being done after the case?

-We have appealed to the Criminal Police regarding the attack on the cultural heritage. The owner will find the culprit and hold him accountable. This time the example seems to be a deliberate attack on the mother. There were no problems with the integrity or disassembly.

First of all, let's study how the chemical element of the paint itself affects the stone. Depending on whether it is stone or oil paint, the extent of the damage to the cultural heritage will be determined. In other words, once the damage has been estimated, it will be clear how much it will cost to repair. Once the paint has been removed, evaluation and research will continue.

-Does it mean that the renovation work will be done regardless of whether the owner is found or not? In general, how are you fighting against the invasion of the original appearance of historical and monumental heritage?

-Restoration is carried out after the National Center for Cultural Heritage and other research organizations estimate the damage and restoration work. There is a cost to repair the damage. Before him, the damage must be calculated and the culprit found.

Local governments must play a leading role in the preservation and protection of cultural heritage. The preservation and protection of the monuments varies depending on whether they are under the protection of the state or the capital city. Of course, such violations and crimes occur only in areas where there is a lack of protection and surveillance, but this is a matter directly related to public awareness. There are two major issues: protection from environmental influences and personal actions. The key is to spend as much time, effort and money as possible on mitigating the effects of natural disasters. However, there is a loss of human consciousness, a cost and time to compensate for it. Therefore, the Ministry of Culture is focusing on loving and protecting cultural heritage and increasing citizen participation as part of its larger educational mission. A number of events were organized as part of the target program. For example, we are working to establish a national network to combat such crimes and violations at the national level. As a result of the Ministry of Culture's extensive work on local issues and crimes against cultural heritage, the Criminal Police Department of the General Police has decided to establish a unit to combat crimes against cultural heritage.

However, with thousands of monuments in Mongolia, citizen participation is paramount. Therefore, I would like to urge citizens to love and protect historical and cultural monuments and cultural heritage, and I would like to remind you that such acts are considered a crime.
