GANDANTEGCHENLIN MONASTERY BECOME A CULTURAL AND TOURIST ZONE

At today's regular government meeting, a decision was made to turn the area around Gandan Tegchenling Monastery into a cultural and tourism zone.
The partial plan for the Gandan Tegchenling Khuree district was clarified in 2012, and the redevelopment of the ger area around the monastery was approved by the City Council in 2015.
According to the redevelopment, 6,740 people from 1,568 households will live there, and it is estimated that about 20 billion MNT will be needed to build engineering infrastructure. In a survey of 674 households in 2014 and 400 households this year, most of them did not need to update the partial master plan, but connected to the central network and offered to build on their own land. Therefore:
-Develop and implement a feasibility study to develop the area around the monastery into a cultural and tourism zone that preserves its traditional style;
-It is planned to have an engineering network, to improve public streets, roads and squares, and to allocate the necessary funds from foreign loans, aid, donations and other sources.
4.5 billion MNT has been approved in the state and capital city budgets for 2018-2021 to build engineering infrastructure. A water and heat distribution center was built at a cost of 3.6 billion MNT, and heating, electricity, water and sewage lines were laid.
Currently, 5,743 people from 1,642 households live on 56 hectares of land near Gandan Tegchenling Monastery in the 16th khoroo of Bayangol district. It has 2,538 buildings and 174 businesses and organizations engaged in the sale of religious items and car repair and maintenance.
Gandan Tegchenling Monastery and Janraisig Temple, one of the most visited places by foreign tourists, were visited by 25,000 people in 2015, 30,000 people in 2018 and 32,000 people in 2019.
