THE MINISTER MRS. NOMIN CHINBAT RECEIVED HIS MAJESTY’S AMBASSADOR MS. FIONA BLYTH

On 25 October 2023, the Minister of Culture of Mongolia, Nomin Chinbat received Fiona Blyth, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Mongolia to engage in discussions concerning the cultural cooperation of the two countries.

In the meeting, the Minister and the Ambassador discussed about working together on successfully organizing “Mongol Khan” drama in Coliseum theatre in London and the Minister requested the Ambassador to inform Ms. Lucy Frazer, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, that she’s invited to the opening ceremony of the drama.

Additionally, the Minister stated the ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Culture to implement the “Chinggis Khan” research grant with Cambridge University, for encouraging studies related to Chinggis Khan and proposed to cooperate in this endeavor.

Furthermore, the Minister stated that the current progress of the XIII-century Mongolian art exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts. The Ambassador, in turn, emphasized that there are various opportunities in many industries of the two countries, especially in cultural cooperation.

The Ambassador, Fiona Blyth, mentioned that British famous opera critic worked with the State Academic theatre of Opera and Ballet. Subsequently, they exchanged views on the possibility of exchanging opera artists to facilitate an exchange of experiences with the English National Opera.

At the end of the meeting, they deliberated on the potential signing of an intergovernmental document aimed at fostering cooperation within the film industry, a primary focus of the cultural Creative Industries of Mongolia. This document would enable film artists from both countries to receive financial support from the film development fund upon its signing.
