A JOINT MEETING OF THE TOURISM MINISTERS OF MONGOLIA, CHINA, AND RUSSIA WAS HELD

A Joint Meeting of the Tourism Ministers of Mongolia, China, and Russia was held on 7 November 2025 in Darkhan city, Darkhan-Uul Province, Mongolia. The meeting opened with remarks from Ms. Undram Chinbat, Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth of Mongolia; Mr. Wang Jianhua, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China; and Mr. D. S. Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, the three parties reviewed the progress of tourism cooperation in 2025 and reached a common understanding on developing cross-border tourism in the coming years. Key priorities discussed included promoting border port operations at the international level, utilizing digital transformation and information technology, and further developing the “Tea Road” as a historical and cultural tourism route. The ministers also agreed to enhance mutual tourist flows to promote Mongolia’s culture and traditional values internationally.

The meeting addressed a range of topics, including priority trends in tourism development, joint policies and infrastructure projects for the “Tea Road” route, creation of tourism products and services, experience-exchange programs, and opportunities to expand regional cooperation. Proposals for establishing a “Tea Road” brand were also presented.

Presentations were delivered by Batchimeg V., Director of the Tourism Policy Implementation Coordination Department of Mongolia; Ji Xiaoqing, Director of the Culture and Tourism Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China; Ilya Gennadievich Umansky, President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry; and the Director of the Galeria Chayka National Tourist Information Center, Russia.

The 9th meeting concluded with the signing of the “Meeting Protocol” and the “Plan for Developing Mongolia–China–Russia Cooperation on the Tea Road Tourism Initiative.” Additionally, Darkhan-Uul and Tuv provinces presented their requests to join the Secretariat of the “International Tea Road Tourism Association” as member provinces. It was agreed that the 10th meeting will be held in 2026 in China. The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening mutual trust and friendly cooperation among Mongolia, China, and Russia, laying the foundation for the “Tea Road” to become a key axis for regional tourism, economic, and cultural collaboration.
