THE “MONGOL NOMADIC WINTER FESTIVAL” HAS BEGUN

As part of the unified calendar of international cultural, tourism, sports, conferences and exhibition events to be held in Mongolia in 2025, the “Mongol Nomadic” Winter Festival is being organized for the first time in Ulaanbaatar’s National Amusement Park from February 16 to 22, 2025.
The festival aims to:
Promote and disseminate Mongolia’s intangible cultural heritage
Create a unique national winter event brand
Increase the influx of foreign tourists during the winter season
Held in anticipation of Tsagaan Sar, Mongolia’s Lunar New Year, the festival showcases winter customs and rituals from all seven domains of intangible cultural heritage. It is uniquely combined with a snow and ice festival dedicated to the protection of the endangered Mazaalai (Gobi bear).

"Mazaalai" International Snow & Ice Festival: Ice sculpture exhibition featuring the top 28 artists
Over 10 themed cultural stations representing Tsagaan Sar traditions, including:
"Shinelekh Yos" Ger – New Year ritual customs
"Tsagaan Sar" Ger – Lunar New Year traditions
"Ceremonial Feast" Ger – Traditional cuisine and beverages
"Traditional Arts" Ger – Indigenous music and performance
"Clothing and Accessories" Ger
"Camel Caravan" Station
"Tsaatan" Station – Reindeer herders
"Herds of Wealth" Station
Ethnic Heritage Gers – Khalkh, Kazakh, Buryat
"Mongol Dogs and Falconry" Station – Featuring Bankhar, Taiga dogs, hunting dogs, and eagle hunting traditions

Ice archery and knuckle-bone shooting
