MONGOLIA - GERMANY CONSULTATION MEETING ON CULTURE, EDUCATION, AND SCIENCE WAS HELD

Mongolia – Germany Consultation Meeting on Culture, Education and Science was held on 27th April, 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany.

Mongolian delegates of the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education and Science, and Ambassador of Mongolia to Federal Republic of Germany B.Mandakhbileg, led by the Deputy Minister of Culture M.Batbayar, and Germany delegates of Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related agencies led by Ambassador at Large V.Cecere of the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs, attended the Consultation Meeting.

Parties noted that bilateral cooperation began in 1926 when the first 35 Mongolian students arrived in Germany and stated that both countries shall give high consideration to commemorate the 50th establishment of diplomatic relation.

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany, parties exchanged views on developing bilateral cooperation and summarized cooperation on culture, education, and scientific achievements in many areas, such as joint archeological research and scientific work, student exchange programs, preservation and restoration of cultural heritages, organizing cultural and art performances.

Deputy Minister of Culture, M.Batbayar mentioned parties agreed to advance bilateral relation and cooperation to the new level during the official talks between the Prime Minister of Mongolia, L.Oyun-Erdene and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz held in 2022 and exchanged views on joint implementation of projects, programs, and legal reformation of the cultural fields and provided information about the cultural sector development projects in Mongolia. 

 On the occasion of 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations of of Mongolia and Federal Republic of Germany, parties discussed showing virtual exhibitions based on archeological research results of Kharkhorum City and Orkhon Valley to the public in 2024, which have been successfully carried out for the past 20 years under the auspices of the two presidents.

Moreover, Parties discussed the education for 1000 engineers and scholarship restoration, domestication of good practices of Germany in the educational field, bilateral cooperation on the film making industry, promotion for the Mongolian studies, which were discussed during the official visit of Prime Minister of Mongolia.

Furthermore, Parties agreed to seek possibilities to continue the training for experts of Fine Art Restoration Laboratory at Art Gallery of Mongolia and collaborate with universities and related agencies of Federal Republic of Germany in administration, management and restoration of Mongolian museums.

Meanwhile, the “Bayan Mongol” Ensemble of the Mongolian Philharmonic attended the "Jazzahead" international jazz music festival in Bremen, Federal Republic of Germany as the first Asian band to perform at the festival.
