THE 19TH ASIAN STUDENT CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2025 UNDERWAY

The 19th Asian Student Chess Championship is currently underway in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, running from 25 October to 1 November 2025. The tournament brings together 677 top junior chess players from 16 Asian countries, competing for a total of 432 medals across standard, rapid, and blitz formats. Competitions are being held in 12 categories for boys and girls: U-7, U-9, U-11, U-13, U-15, and U-17.

This is the first time Mongolia has hosted the championship. The tournament aims to promote intellectual sports, foster friendship among Asian students, and identify future chess champions. Outstanding participants will have the opportunity to achieve FIDE titles, including FIDE Vice Master and FIDE Master.

Mongolian players have already made a strong impression. International Master Chinguun S., won the first gold medal in the standard category, while his brother, Grandmaster Bilguun S., claimed gold in the blitz event, earning national recognition.

In the rapid tournament team results held on 25 October:

🥇 Republic of Kazakhstan: 4 gold, 4 silver

🥈 Mongolia: 4 gold, 3 silver, 7 bronze

🥉 Russian Federation: 2 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze

In addition, the Mongolian Chess Federation is hosting a seminar on FIDE arbiter norms in collaboration with the Asian Chess Federation. The training is led by FIDE Category A International Arbiter Merdad Pakhlevanzade and FIDE International Arbiter Altan-Och G.. Participants will take an exam on 1 November, with successful candidates earning one norm toward the FIDE Arbiter (FA) title.

The championship continues to showcase the talents of Asia’s junior chess players as they compete in standard and blitz events, contributing to the development of chess across the continent.
