Genghis Khan Museum
It is Mongolia's inalienable duty to promote and glorify Genghis Khan's contribution to Mongolian and world history. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a large-scale national museum based on the lives and activities of kings and aristocrats who made history.
The Government of Mongolia decided to establish the “Chinggis Khaan Museum” by Resolution No. 280 of July 3, 2019. The museum was inaugurated on April 2, 2020, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held.
On April 2, 2020, the Prime Minister of Mongolia, U.Khurelsukh, issued an order to establish a “Council of Scientists” to provide professional advice on the establishment of the Chinggis Khaan Museum.
The museum will cover the period from the first Mongolian state, the Xiongnu Empire, to the re-establishment of the Mongol state in the twentieth century. From the first founder of the Xiongnu, Modun Shanyu, to Xiangbei chief Tonyukuk, the Uyghur king Moyunchur, the Khitan kings, the ancient Mongol kings of Habul and Khotul, the kings and nobles who played a major role in history will be considered key figures. In addition to real artifacts, the halls will feature modern chronology, archeological chronology, nomadic artifacts, clothing, and major historical events.
Transfer of historical and cultural relics from museums and research institutions, discovery of archeological research, purchase or copying from individuals and foreign museums, libraries, antiques, personal gifts, exchanges, testaments, etc. will have more than 4,000 exhibits. It will also make full use of modern high technology in the exhibition space.
